The Consultation Is Part of the Cut

Before scissors, your stylist will want to know a few things, and none of them are small talk. How you dry it. Whether you own a round brush and actually use it. How long you can realistically spend on it in the morning. Whether you wear it up most days.

Real life always wins. A shape that only looks right after twenty minutes of styling is not a good haircut for someone who has eight. We want your hair to look amazing, but it also has to work for your real life, and the cut is where that promise is either kept or broken.

Cut for Your Texture

• Curly hair. Curl shrinks up as it dries, so length and weight have to be judged against how the curl will sit, not how the hair hangs wet.
• Wavy hair. Usually needs weight removed in specific places rather than all over, or the wave goes triangular.
• Fine hair. Benefits from blunter lines that keep density at the ends. Over layering fine hair is the most common way it ends up looking thinner.
• Thick or coarse hair. Needs internal weight taken out so the shape sits down rather than pushing out at the sides.

How Often to Come Back

Six to eight weeks keeps most shapes looking intentional. Shorter cuts and blunt bobs lose their line fastest and want the shorter end of that. Longer hair can stretch to twelve weeks if you are growing it, and a trim to take the split ends without losing length is a perfectly good appointment to book.

If you are growing your hair out, say so. Cutting to grow is a different job from cutting to maintain, and your stylist will take a lot less off if they know where you are heading.

Booking a Cut With Color

Most guests pair the two, and it is the right order: color first, then cut, so the shape is cut into the finished color. Mention both when you book so the time is set aside, and see our color services if you are planning them together. Bringing a Photo

Bring one. Bring three. It tells your stylist what you are drawn to faster than any description could. What we will do is customize it to you instead of copying the picture exactly, because the person in the photo has a different texture, a different density and a different face shape. Does a haircut include a blow dry?

Yes. Every cut is finished with a wash and a blow dry, which is the only way to see whether the shape is doing what it should.

How often should I get my hair cut?

Six to eight weeks for most shapes. Short cuts want it sooner, and if you are growing your hair out you can stretch further and just take the ends.

Do you cut curly hair?

Yes, and it is cut with the curl in mind rather than as a straight cut that happens to be on curly hair. Mention your texture when you book so you get the right stylist and the right amount of time.

Can I book a cut with my color appointment?

Yes, and most guests do. Color goes first, then the cut. Mention both when you book so enough time is reserved.

What if I only want a trim?

That is a normal booking. Tell your stylist you are keeping the length and taking the ends, and that is exactly what will happen.
