Kids Haircut
A kids haircut at Lavish is a friendly, unhurried cut for our youngest guests. It is a shorter appointment than an adult cut, and it is booked as its own service so your stylist has the right amount of time and nobody feels rushed. Children are welcome in the salon, and first haircuts are genuinely one of our favorite appointments to do.

How We Run a Kids Appointment
Slowly, and at their pace. Your stylist will talk to your child rather than over their head, show them the scissors and the cape before using either, and let them sit on a lap or a booster if that is what makes it work. If they need a break halfway through, they get one.
Nothing about this appointment is rushed, and nothing about it is a lecture. A first haircut that goes well is why a child is not nervous about the next twenty.
Bringing Your Child In
A few things genuinely help the appointment go smoothly:
- Book earlier in the day if you can. Most children have more patience in the morning.
- Tell them what is happening beforehand. A haircut is far less alarming when it was not a surprise.
- Bring a tablet or a favorite toy. Whatever holds their attention for fifteen minutes is fair game.
- Let them wear their own clothes. We will cape them properly, so there is no need to change into anything.
- Come with a rough idea rather than a precise plan. Your stylist will tell you what will actually sit well on their hair.
First Haircuts
Tell us when you book that it is a first haircut. It changes nothing about the price and everything about how the appointment is handled: more time, more patience, and a stylist who will stop the moment your child needs a minute. Bring your phone. Parents almost always want the photo and they almost always forget to take it.
Mommy and Daughter Appointments
Booking two appointments back to back, or side by side where the schedule allows, is one of the nicest things you can do in this salon. If you are having a color service and your child is having a trim, mention it when you book so the timing can be arranged around your processing time. Have a look at the Lavish Experiences if you want to make your half of it a proper break.
Older Kids and Teenagers
At some point a kids cut becomes an adult cut, and that is about the hair rather than the birthday. Longer hair, layered shapes, curly cuts and anything involving color take adult time, so book a standard haircut for those. If you are not sure which one to book, call us on (774) 319-5666 and we will tell you.
“My daughter and I went for a morning of pampering for her 7th birthday. I got a scalp treatment and blow out. My daughter got a trim and we added on tinsel. As soon as they found out it was her birthday, she became royalty. My daughter feeling beautiful walking out on her birthday. We already have an appointment for our next mommy and daughter day.”

Frequently Asked Questions
What age is a kids haircut for?
Our youngest guests through to pre teens. Once the hair needs adult time, layers, real length or anything with color, book a standard haircut instead. Ask us if you are unsure.
How long does it take?
It is a shorter appointment than an adult cut. Durations are on the Service Menu, and we always allow a little more for a first haircut.
My child is nervous about haircuts. Can you work with that?
Yes, and it is more common than you think. Tell us when you book so the appointment is set up for it. Your stylist will go at their pace and stop whenever they need to.
Can my child sit on my lap?
Absolutely. Lap, booster seat, or their own chair if they want to feel grown up. Whatever works.
Can we book at the same time as my appointment?
Often yes, and it works especially well if you are having a color service. Mention it when you book so the schedule can be arranged around it.
Do you do first haircuts?
We love them. Let us know when you book so extra time is allowed, and bring your phone for the photo.
Current pricing for kids haircuts is on the Service Menu.
