Lavish Hydration Experience

The Lavish Hydration Experience is a deeply moisturizing treatment for hair that has gone dry, frizzy or hard to manage. It replenishes moisture, reduces frizz, and restores softness, strength and manageability. If your hair fights you every morning, this is the treatment to start with, and it is the one we recommend most often for color treated hair.

Dry Hair or Damaged Hair?

These get treated as the same thing and they are not, which is why the wrong product so often makes no difference.

Dry hair is short of moisture. It feels rough, it frizzes, it will not hold a style, and it drinks up anything you put on it. Moisture is the answer.

Damaged hair is short of structure. It stretches and snaps when wet, it feels gummy rather than rough, and it is often the result of lightening or heat. That needs strengthening rather than moisturizing, and loading damaged hair with moisture alone makes it limper.

Most heads sit somewhere between the two. Your stylist will feel your hair wet and dry and tell you which side you are on rather than sell you the treatment you asked for.

What It Does

  • Replenishes moisture through the mid lengths and ends where it is lost first.
  • Reduces frizz, which is largely hair pulling moisture out of the air because it has none of its own.
  • Restores softness and manageability, so brushing and styling stop being a fight.
  • Leaves a soft, touchable, glossy finish, particularly on color treated hair.

Who Books It

  • Color clients, especially anyone having lightening work. Lifted hair loses moisture faster and this is the counterweight.
  • Anyone at the end of a summer of salt water, chlorine and sun.
  • Curly and wavy hair, which is naturally drier because of how the cuticle sits along the bend.
  • Anyone whose ends feel rough but who does not want to cut length off yet.
  • Frizz sufferers who want to try the gentler route before committing to a keratin treatment.

Hydration Treatment or Keratin Treatment?

Both target frizz and both have a place, and the honest difference is how long they last and how much they change.

The Hydration Experience is a treatment. It works immediately, it is a short add on to any appointment, and it fades over a handful of washes. The keratin treatment is a smoothing service that lasts months and takes a couple of hours.

If frizz is an occasional annoyance, start here. If it defines your morning routine all summer, the keratin treatment is the better investment and your stylist will say so.

Keeping the Moisture In

We want your hair to look amazing, but it also has to work for your real life, so this is the short list rather than a routine nobody keeps.

  • Conditioner on the mid lengths and ends, never the scalp. The scalp makes its own oil.
  • Cooler final rinse. Hot water strips moisture straight back out.
  • Heat protectant every single time, and one heat tool pass instead of three.
  • Sulfate free shampoo, which matters more for what it leaves out than what it puts in. We carry Shibui and Aluram in the salon.
  • A microfiber towel or a cotton t shirt rather than a rough bath towel, which roughens the cuticle while it dries.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from the conditioner I use at home?

Concentration and time. A salon treatment is a stronger formula, applied to hair that has been prepared for it, and left on properly. Home conditioner is doing a lighter job in two minutes in the shower.

How long does it last?

It fades over a number of washes rather than ending on a set day, and sulfate free shampoo extends it noticeably. Many guests add one to every color appointment to keep it topped up.

Will it weigh my hair down?

It should not, and if your hair goes limp rather than soft, that is a sign your hair needs strengthening rather than moisture. Tell your stylist and they will change the approach.

Can I have it with a color service?

Yes, and after a lightening service is the ideal time. Mention it when you book so the time is reserved.

Should I book this or a keratin treatment for frizz?

Start here if frizz is occasional. Go for the keratin treatment if it dictates your routine, since that lasts months rather than washes.

Is it suitable for curly hair?

Very. Curly and wavy hair is naturally drier, so it tends to respond to a hydration treatment more visibly than straight hair does.
