Why It Is a Separate Booking

Time. A standard blow dry slot is built around an average head of hair. Twice the hair takes closer to twice as long, and a stylist working against the clock has to choose between drying the underneath properly and finishing on schedule. Neither choice is good.

Booking the right service is not about paying more for the same thing. It is about the appointment being long enough that the result is what you came in for.

Who Should Book This One

• Anyone with extensions, whatever length. The bond line needs different handling and that takes extra minutes.
• Hair past the mid back. More length means more sections, and every section gets its own pass.
• Very dense hair. Density matters more than length. A dense shoulder length head can take longer than fine hair to the waist.
• Coarse or curly hair being blown out smooth, which is the most time consuming finish we do.
• Anyone who has been told before that their hair needs longer. Take the hint from whoever said it.

Extension Safe Drying

Blowing out hair with extensions in it is a technique rather than a longer version of the same thing.

• The bond or row area is dried first and dried thoroughly. Damp bonds are the single biggest cause of slipping and odor.
• Tension is kept off the attachment points, so the dryer and brush work below and around them rather than pulling at them.
• Brushing runs from the ends upward, in sections, never in one stroke from the root.
• Heat is kept off the attachment itself.

Say you have extensions when you book, and say what kind. Your stylist will handle it correctly, and it is also a chance for them to check how the install is sitting between move-up appointments.

Getting the Most From the Appointment

Tell your stylist what finish you are after when you sit down: sleek and straight, soft volume, or brushed out waves. Long hair holds a wave beautifully and it is usually the finish that lasts longest on a big head of hair, because there is enough weight to keep the shape.

How do I know if I should book this instead of a standard blow dry?

If you have extensions, book this one. Otherwise, if your hair is past your mid back or noticeably dense, book this one. If you are between the two, book this and your stylist will tell you next time which suits you.

Is this a different service or just longer?

Longer, and for extension hair also a different technique at the attachment points. The finish you can ask for is the same.

Do I need to say I have extensions when I book?

Yes, please, and mention what kind. It changes how your stylist dries and brushes the hair, and it lets them check the install while they are in there.

Will a blowout damage my extensions?

Not when it is done properly, which is the reason this booking exists. Drying the bond area thoroughly and keeping tension off the attachments is what protects the install.

Can I add a treatment?

How long does the appointment take?
